On June 14th, we returned to Hilton Head Island, SC. This is our sixth year using our time share at Marriott's Grande Ocean resort. I have to say that we really enjoy this resort. We find that, during our first day of each year, we are reminded of all that we love about the area and our chosen time share. This year we tried something different: bringing along a friend of the boys. So far, that decision is definitely paying dividends in terms of increased kid self-entertainment.
This year, we are staying in the Dolphin building, which is right next to the north pool:
The boys also like to spend a lot of time at the south pool:
Amanda and I also like this pool because of its proximity to Pool Bar Jim's, one of our favorite places. The frozen drink menu runs over 300 pages...
During our first day here, we had some rain. When I say "some rain," I mean that it poured like crazy with made thunder/lightning for about 30 minutes. A real tropical storm!
But our favorite thing about HHI is the one-of-a-kind beach. When we were choosing our time share, our major criterion was that we could walk from our unit to the beach:
This year, the boys are mostly interested in swimming in the pools. So Amanda and I pulled rank for a walk along the beach this evening. The beach itself is fantastic, very wide and deep, with hard packed sand that allows for bike riding along the shore:
I love viewing the dunes and all its wildlife:
Here is a link to all the photos from today.
Thanks for looking!
